The term digital transformation is trendy, but what does it really mean in the business environment?
In general terms, we can say that digital transformation involves redefining the culture, business vision and human capital of companies, to adapt to the new market, where technology plays a key role. Therefore, digital transformation involves all areas within an organization.
The concept referred at an early stage to entering databases into a computer, a phase known as “digitization”; later came digitalization, that is, the automation of processes with digital tools, such as CRM, ERP, MRP, WMS. Today, most companies are at this stage or in the process of developing it.
However, for some time some companies began their transition to digital transformation, which is characterized by deep changes in organizations, in order to be more efficient and competitive in the current environment.

The digital transformation implies changing the company’s culture and redefining the business model by putting the customer and their buying experience at the center, with the optimization of operations through the support of human capital. Having a website, social networks or even eCommerce are excellent tools, but they do not mean that the company is digitally transformed; that process is much deeper and of vital importance for the competitiveness and growth of companies.
